Ford Dundee

Dalkeith Retail Centre Ltd T/A Your Ford Centre purchased a site at Baird Avenue for the development of their new dealership in Dundee, adding to their family of Ford dealerships already in Cupar, Kirkcaldy, Dalkeith and Peebles.

The site’s former distribution centre had previously undergone partial demolition, leaving two portal bays intact which were converted into a workshop. We provided architectural services to convert this workshop into a car sales showroom, with additional facilities including the managers’ offices, meeting rooms, staff breakout areas, a parts store, and a vehicle workshop as well as changing facilities and a mechanics’ bothy.

Externally, the development included a forecourt to accommodate vehicle sales and display areas, as well as parking for staff and customers. The project’s primary goal was to create a contemporary and highly functional space that met both the Centre’s needs and Ford’s franchise specifications.

Throughout the process, we adhered closely to Ford’s design standards, including specific materials and finishes for the building’s layout, cladding, lighting, wall and floor finishes, and signage. Sustainability was a key consideration of the project, with solar PV panels installed on the roof to provide zero-carbon energy and air-source heat pumps for heating the building.

The cladding was upgraded to thermally efficient panels, with the original materials repurposed for use in another project, reducing waste. To further enhance energy efficiency, high-specification glazing was installed in the large showroom curtain wall to minimise solar gain, reducing the need for cooling. EV chargers were also provided across the forecourt and parking areas, aligning with the shift toward electric vehicle infrastructure.

The completed development provides a modern, sustainable showroom and dealership for Dalkeith Retail Centre’s expanding business.

Get Active @ Northfield

To bring the dilapidated Northfield Swimming Pool back into use, SPACE provided executive architect services to transform the centre and enhance the facilities in a community with very few alternative leisure opportunities.
