Overview
BP had occupied the £60M, 267,500 sqft office facility for over 8 years and the existing reception area was in need of modernisation.
Remaining operational during the refurbishment works was key, which meant meeting the challenge of maintaining access for 1500+ staff/visitors during the construction phase.
Additionally, the installation of robust natural materials was a priority for the client to reflect their corporate image as well as ensuring compliance with brand policy.
Our Approach
The client came to us with some high level conceptual design ideas which we creatively altered to form a buildable solution. The design intent was to create a welcoming arrival experience consistent with the other offices around the globe.
The principal entrance remained operational during the construction phase which took careful coordination and included out of hours working to minimise disruption.
3D visualizations were prepared from the start and were regularly updated to reflect the construction drawings. The visuals were used as a tool to allow speedy sign off from the stakeholders during the works.
The end result is a modern, inviting entrance to the building which has improved staff and visitor experience and the working environment for reception staff.
